Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, truthful Word of God (Heb. 4:12). It is the “Rock” upon which all education should be built (Josh. 1:8, 2 Tim. 3:16, Deut. 6:6-9). We believe in one true God (Isa. 43:10). He sent his son, Jesus, who was crucified and then resurrected. He is the only bridge to God and our salvation (John 3:16, 1 John 5:10-12, Rom. 10-12).

Vision
To encourage, enrich, equip, and empower all participants to be servants of God.

Mission Statement
1. To encourage home-educating parents to bring up their children in the way they should go (Prov. 22:6), and to pursue to development of Christ-like behavior (Gal. 5:22-23).
2. To provide enrichment classes and activities, and networking opportunities which reinforce the education of our home-schooled children.
3. To provide our children opportunities to build lasting friendships with other home-schooled children, while providing home-educators opportunities to support and encourage one another.
4. To be a cooperative support group, meaning we join efforts in planning, preparing, teaching, and assisting; therefore, parental participation is mandatory. By pooling our resources and talents, we can offer more diverse educational activities to our students.

*No denominations or individual doctrine will be promoted. **To participate in the co-op, you do not have to agree to the Statement of Faith. You do have to understand this is the foundation of our existence as a co-op, and you need to agree not to promote any other views or beliefs.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We offer services to homeschooling families regardless of their beliefs, but Abundant Rain was founded on, and its leadership is committed to, the following:
We believe that there is only one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that humankind fell into sin, which brought evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world and that Jesus Christ is the only way to be cleansed from sin.
We believe that those who repent and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord will receive a new nature and obtain eternal life.

We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God and of final authority in faith and life.

If you are new to the area or just new to homeschooling it might seems a bit scary trying to connect with other like minded families. But in an area as large as Elkhart and Mishawaka there are plenty of homeschool groups, co-ops and support groups to choose from. If you are needing more information please feel free to email, if you have information that would be helpful to the homeschool community  we would love to have it posted.

Please be aware this is a public blog so anyone can see what you post. Be careful what information you are posting and never post something that is not already public or you have been given express permission to publish. Welcome to the home of The Elkhart Area Christian Home Educators, or T.E.A.C.H.E'rs, on the web.  T.E.A.C.H.E'rs is a group of homeschool families located in the area of Elkhart County in northern Indiana.

Statement of Purpose
T.E.A.C.H.E'rs exists to serve the Lord Jesus Christ by:
  • encouraging home educating parents to train up their children in the way they should go (Prov 22:6) and to pursue the development of Christian character as their primary goal, even above academic excellence (Gal. 5:22-23).
  • encouraging excellence in individual homeschools (Col. 3:17).
  • helping new home-educating parents get started.
  • informing home educators about available resources.
  • providing opportunities for home educators to meet and encourage one another.
  • monitoring the legislature and passing along pertinent information to the home-educating network.
  • organizing field trips, and educational and extracurricular activities.
Statement of Faith
We believe in the eternally existing, triune God; man's sinful nature and need for redemption; and Jesus Christ's atoning death and resurrection. We believe in the inerrancy of the Bible and that it is the foundation upon which all education should be based (Rom. 12:1-2, Josh. 1:8, 2 Tim. 3:16, Col. 2:8, Jas. 1:5, Deut. 6:6-9). No denomination or individual doctrine will be promoted.
To participate in a T.E.A.C.H.E'rs sponsored activity, you need not agree with these statements, only understand that this is the basis from which the T.E.A.C.H.E'rs board will govern.

The Christian Home of Michiana
http://christianhomemichiana.org/

We are a homeschool group helping families who live in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, and the surrounding communities connect with other homeschool families and opportunities in our area.

We have around 100 families in our group, and we operate as a co-op.  In order to offer exciting opportunities and rich educational experiences for our kids, we ask each family to plan and offer to the group at least one activity during the year.  Just a few of the activities which have been offered include roller skating, ice hockey, academic fair, prom, basketball, field day, National Honor Society, spelling bee, coffee nights, geography bee, homeschooling high school moms’ group, dodge ball, ice skating, standardized testing, back-to-school meeting, and various field trips.

We email a monthly newsletter ten times a year which highlights activities offered by our group as well as community opportunities.  There is also a weekly email update to members.

The Homeschool Hangout -

http://www.homeschoolhangout.blogspot.com/

Homeschool Hangout meets today. Come for some fun in the gym, bring an activity the little ones like to play and enjoy some fellowship.
2:00-3:30 today at Clay Church Firehouse Youth Center on Cleveland Rd. in South Bend.

There are only two Hangouts left for the year. We end after this month.

Facebook friends may connect on Facebook with the new playgroup forming. It seems to be going well. The name will change soon, but it is, for the moment, Michiana Homeschool Playgroup. The link is. https://www.facebook.com/groups/436572113101880/

Blessings and joy to you this beautiful day!
